When disaster strikes, Paul Davis Restoration helps families and businesses recover from fire, water, mold, and storm damage. As a Mitigation Technician, you’ll be the first on site—restoring not only properties, but also peace of mind. Every day is different, meaningful, and hands‑on. The Mitigation Technician plays a key role in the immediate response to property damage from floods and fires.

This position supports Paul Davis of NW Chicago by performing emergency services, stabilizing damaged structures, and ensuring homes and businesses are safe for restoration. This role directly impacts customer experience at a critical time and requires professionalism, urgency, empathy and attention to detail while ensuring all work meets Paul Davis and IICRC standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform water, fire, and mold mitigation services according to Paul Davis standards
  • Use water extraction tools to remove water and prevent further damage.
  • Set up, monitor, and maintain drying equipment and document moisture levels to monitor progress.
  • Perform assigned demolition, debris removal, and light construction tasks.
  • Carefully manipulate, pack‑out, clean and store customer contents.
  • Assist with emergency board‑ups and tarping when needed.
  • Document job progress with photos, readings, and digital notes in company software.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of job sites, vehicles, and tools.
  • Follow safety procedures and use proper PPE per OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with customers, teammates, and supervisors.
  • Participate in after‑hours and weekend on‑call rotation.
  • Assist in training new team members as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Range: $19–$24 per hour (based on experience).

Requirements Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Excellent customer service mindset and work ethic.
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to safely operate mitigation equipment and basic hand/power tools or willing to learn.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous restoration, construction, or trade experience preferred, but not required.
  • IICRC certification (WRT, FSRT, ASD) preferred; training provided for qualified candidates.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug test.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
