Position Summary

Full‑time HUD Certified Housing Counselor primarily responsible for providing professional housing counseling services and assistance to immigrant families in the community. The counselor will deliver education in home ownership, credit counseling, financial capacity building, pre‑purchase, delinquency, and foreclosure prevention.

Core Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day client scheduling and delivery of home ownership counseling and education.
  • Recruit program participants and assist with community resources and scheduling appointments.
  • Assist with and facilitate on‑site and off‑site housing fairs and events.
  • Provide clients with information on all aspects of home ownership from pre‑purchase requirements to foreclosure prevention and rental, with a heavy focus on financial coaching.
  • Perform ongoing case management and provide problem‑solving assistance.
  • Remain available to clients throughout the counseling process to address problems and answer questions.
  • Maintain client files and program records according to contractual and grant requirements; create and ensure completion of a client’s file per organizational and HUD guidelines.
  • Create an action plan that supports and builds client’s financial capacity and improves housing status.
  • Manage data integrity and governance in Counselor MPACT PRO, Salesforce, and other required database systems.
  • Build relationships with lenders, realtors, and other professionals to develop referral sources.
  • Attend and participate in educational housing programs; maintain essential job skills and core competencies.
  • Work 30 hours of continuing education toward recertification every 3 years.
  • Conduct workshops, seminars, and one‑on‑one coaching activities; facilitate group education workshops in accordance with HUD standards (some evenings and Saturdays).
  • Process and prepare timely reports on clients for periodic outcome reviews and program audits for ENH staff and funders.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
  • Occasional travel for outreach activities, training, and program registration events.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 2–4 years in a related field. Certifications in foreclosure prevention, home ownership counseling, financial capability, and rental housing counseling are a plus.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and oral).
  • HUD Housing Counseling Certification (Pre‑Purchase and Home ownership Education) – a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and database software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team setting.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • High level of professional and personal integrity; trustworthiness with confidential client and funding information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and sensitivity to challenges of immigrant communities.
  • Will acquire HUD certification within 6 months of hiring.
  • Work flexible hours and be available Saturdays; possession of reliable transportation.
Employee Benefits
  • Compensation range: $48,000 – $50,000; salary increases to $50,000 after HUD certification.
