Client Support and Service Coordinator – VOA Illinois

Base pay range22.00/hr - 27.00/hr
Position TypeFull‑time, in‑office, 40‑hour week. Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required. On‑site for the first three months; after that, eligible for one remote workday per week subject to performance.
EnvironmentPhysical demands include sedentary work, operating a computer, frequent communication with clients and colleagues, and traveling in community vehicles. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

- Collaborate with VOA colleagues, outside organizations or vendors to connect clients and obtain necessary resources.

- Exhibit cultural competence while serving clients of diverse backgrounds and commit to expanding knowledge and understanding of different communities and people groups.

- Recognize and display ability to de‑escalate and resolve conflict as necessary.
Support Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a comprehensive program for Veterans who are struggling in crisis or at risk of serious instability. The program provides Veterans with support, resources and hope to achieve their full potential in all areas of their life, by working on a personalized service plan with our Veteran Services team.
Essential Functions- Conduct general case management, including evaluating clients’ psychological and physical needs and developing service plans when not provided by the community.
- Meet with program participants to offer support and monitor progress on service plans.
- Deliver culturally and socioeconomically sensitive services.
- Serve as a liaison between community agencies, service providers and clients.
- Utilize the least intrusive intervention required to address problematic situations.
- Facilitate and monitor for the delivery of appropriate, timely and satisfactorily services to clients.
- Educate clients, both individually and in groups on service availability, application procedures and client rights.
- Advocate for and negotiate on behalf of clients to ensure the timely and cost‑effective provision of services.
- Meet with service providers as necessary and appropriate.
- Explore opportunities for additional services from private, local, state and federal sources.
- Perform data entry using databases such as Service Point and HMIS.
- Uphold the mission and values of VOA Illinois at all times.

Qualifications- Experience in service management, including organizing, problem‑solving and advocating.
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency/success in leveraging and working with community resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good relations with clients and employees.
- Excellent communication, writing, problem‑solving and organization skills.
- Individual must have a valid driver’s license, access to a safe and reliable vehicle during all work hours and have adequate and current vehicle insurance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets and database and reporting tools.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Acceptable degrees include those related to human services, social work, psychology, counseling, etc.
- Minimum of one year of case management experience required.
- Must be proficient in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook.
Base Salary Range: 22.20 - 26.64
