General Description

The Intact Family Services (IFS) Specialist is responsible for providing a variety of community and home‑based case management services to assigned families to promote safety, well‑being, and permanency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstr Combo agency clinical philosophy in all aspects of program activities.
  • Promptly responds to new IFS referrals by participating in the supervisory hand‑off and transitional visit within the specified time frame.
  • Develops and documents thorough initial and ongoing assessments of each assigned family.
  • Collaborates with the family team to develop, review, and modify service plans that address assessment needs related to safety, well‑being, and permanency.
  • Prepares for and attends school staffings, court hearings, and other meetings regarding the assigned families.
  • In steps with their supervisor, makes recommendations to DCFS and court personnel on services, visitation, and placement.
  • Monitors the safety and well‑being of assigned children/youth through face‑to‑face visits in the home and community, as required.
  • Consults regularly with professionals and family members to ensure quality service coordination and communication.
  • Provides support and information to parents in the safe and nurturing care of children with the aim of providing a stable home that meets the child/youth's needs.
  • Ensures that client-Loase files are complete through completing and/or obtaining required consents for release of information or authorization for treatment and current documentation regarding caregiver treatment/services and child medical, developmental, school, therapeutic, and other services.
  • Documents all admission, ongoing, and closing activities in a timely manner using approved forms/database.
  • Maintains an awareness of community resources appropriate to child, youth, and family needs, and makes proper use of these resources through referral and follow‑up.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of IFS Program Plan requirements, COA accreditation standard, and related DCFS and policy and procedures.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the IFS Team Supervisor.

Education Requirements / General Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree

    Required:

    Bachelor's degree in social work or a social‑service related degree.
  • Degree Preferred:
    Master’s degree.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Minimum Years of

    Experience:

    2 years of social service experience required.
  • Licensure: LCSW or LCPC licensure preferred.
  • Information Technology

    Skills Required:

    Microsoft Office Proficiency.
  • Other Requirements:
    Must possess or pass CWEL, CANS, CERAP, Intact Specialty exams, and other state of Illinois certifications, as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and time management skills. Full‑time use of a minimally insured, operating automobile and a valid driver's license. Must pass a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
