Developer Productivity Engineer

A leading global technology-driven organization is seeking a seasoned software engineer to join its Developer Productivity team. This team plays a pivotal role in empowering engineering, research, and product teams by building scalable tools and infrastructure that streamline development workflows and accelerate delivery across the company.

You'll focus on enhancing the internal developer experience-owning and evolving the remote development environment used by hundreds of engineers worldwide. You'll tackle performance bottlenecks, optimize build systems, and drive architectural improvements that impact the entire engineering organization.

• Architect and scale build systems and development tooling to support a high-performance engineering environment
• Maintain and improve multi-tenant remote development environments for global teams.
• Identify and resolve issues in build and CI/CD infrastructure, implementing both tactical fixes and strategic enhancements.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure that supports the full software lifecycle: development, build, test, and release.
• Champion best practices in code quality, maintainability, and developer productivity.

• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, with deep expertise in Python, and experience in C++ and Java.
• Strong background in Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cluster management.
• Proven track record of improving developer workflows and productivity at scale.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse technical teams.

• Expertise in Bazel and monorepo build systems.
• Familiarity with Team City or similar CI/CD platforms.

This role must sit out of the firm's Chicago office working onsite 4 days per week, 1 day remote.
