We’re looking for a curious, rigorous, problem‑hungry platform engineer (who codes!) to carry the ball as we bring Ashby to the big leagues. Ashby builds software that lets talent teams create efficient, delightful, respectful hiring processes. You will build a “paved road” that excellent engineering teams can safely navigate to deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure.

We have notable customers like Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake. Our growth and retention metrics are best‑in‑class among our peers: tens of millions in ARR, >100% YOY growth, 2,500 customers, low churn, and long runway.

• Optimize our home‑grown ultra‑dynamic recruiting DSL‑to‑SQL compiler and create tools to help developers use it.
• Build automated guardrails for security and privacy of customer data.
• Enable rapid feature delivery through canary deploys, gradual rollouts, feature flags, while keeping complexity manageable and minimizing downtime.
• Collaborate with business and engineering to define SLOs and implement corresponding SLIs.
• Ensure all external service communication supports retries and circuit‑breakers.
• Implement infrastructure to support an event‑driven architecture and data warehouse.

• Obsessive problem‑solver who enjoys digging deep into unclear issues.
• Champion future‑user safety, edge cases, and doomsday design without taking shortcuts.
• Passionate about collaboration, enjoys hiring on interview panels, and thrives with high‑standards teammates.
• Experience building infrastructure at scale, automating provisioning, monitoring, and release processes.
• Versatile across security, database optimization, Kubernetes debugging, and language tracing, valuing continual growth.

• Willingness to code; contributes code reviews and deployments.
• Prefers asynchronous written communication over frequent live meetings.
• Self‑managed; can deliver projects without constant prompting.

• Day 1:
  Set up dev environment via single script; push first product change.
• Incrementally increase scope from simple copy to prominent feature delivery.
• Monthly (30/60/90) reviews with manager for feedback and calibration.
