Software Engineer II, Backend; Infrastructure

About the Role

The Cost Engineering Team is looking for a Software Engineer II
. The engineer is responsible for driving financial visibility, cost efficiency, and long‑term economic sustainability across our cloud infrastructure. We blend engineering, data analysis, and financial insight to ensure that every technical decision upholds availability while preserving cost efficiency.

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics during the product development lifecycle, articulating technical constraints and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
• Support the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and keeping the lights on, including on‑call efforts.
• Engage in community and growth activities such as participating in the interview process.

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin; experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building cost visibility through tagging and creating cost savings opportunities via cost analysis.
• Ability to solve complex problems by integrating multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, extensible code.
• Comfort navigating large code bases, debugging, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback seeking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective global collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Pay Grade: L /
Equity Grade: 6

Base pay (US). CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT: $160,000 – $210,000 per year. Other states: $142,000 – $192,000 per year.

Compensation may also include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents).

Remote‑first: The majority of our roles are remote; you may work almost anywhere within the country of employment. Some proximal roles may require occasional office presence. A limited number of roles remain office‑based due to job requirements.
