Lead Software Engineer II – Tax Product Development (Microsoft Dynamics CE & Project Operations)
The Lead Software Engineer II plays a critical role in designing and implementing complex distributed systems, including solutions leveraging Microsoft Power Applications and Project Operations to support the tax practice and delivery of services to clients. The Engineer owns end‑to‑end delivery of distributed systems, defining technical requirements and architecture for tax products with a focus on integrating and optimizing Dynamics CE and Project Operations to enhance client management and project delivery.
Responsibilities- Lead design and implementation of highly scalable distributed systems within an Agile team focused on tax solutions.
- Design, develop, and test software solutions using web and cloud technologies for innovative tax products.
- Apply modern software engineering principles throughout the software lifecycle for tax‑related applications.
- Collaborate with Senior Architects and Technical Leads to analyze design approach and architecture for tax products and platforms.
- Integrate and customize Microsoft Dynamics CE and Project Operations to support tax practice workflows, client management, and project delivery.
- Review business requirements for technical feasibility and collaborate with teams to deliver quality tax software products.
- Maintain tax products and platforms based on product roadmaps, production support processes, and compliance with IT, security, and business mandates.
- Communicate with stakeholders and cross‑functional teams such as technical architects and security teams.
- Champion secure coding and technical debt reduction, staying up to date with technology trends.
- Evangelize modern methods of software engineering and innovation.

- Mentor Senior Engineers and Lead Engineers to enhance code quality and ensure compliance with standards in tax product development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or Accounting (STEM) – required.
- Eight (8) or more years of experience architecting and implementing Microsoft Dynamics Project Operations (or Project Service Automation), with a focus on solution design, technical delivery, and system integration – required.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Dynamics CE and Canvas App, including customization, configuration, and integration – required.
- Extensive experience developing stored procedures and database schemas utilizing SQL Server, Azure SQL, or No
SQL databases – required. - Eight (8) or more years of experience designing and automating CI/CD/Dev Ops pipelines, and in‑depth experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Portal – required.
- Certifications in Microsoft MTA/MCSD, Azure Fundamentals (Az‑900), Microsoft Azure Developer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect – preferred.
- Proficient with scripting tools such as Power Shell, Graph API, and Azure CLI, and experienced with monitoring tools like App Insights and Power
BI – required. - Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub, Microsoft SQL Server/ Azure SQL DB, Microsoft Power BI and Power Apps, Azure Functions, HTTP debug tools – preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in hybrid and remote environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer‑relationship skills.
- Solid decision‑making skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects/tasks in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Expertise in clean code, leading code reviews, minimizing technical debt, and establishing coding standards.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of software engineers, with project management experience and delivery of complex software on time.
- Align software development with business goals and encourage innovation and continuous improvement.
Certifications in Microsoft MTA/MCSD, Azure Fundamentals (Az‑900), Microsoft Azure Developer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect, preferred. Other Microsoft/ Azure certifications, preferred.
