Automation Architect – Playwright​/Python Modernization Lead

Capgemini is seeking an experienced Automation Architect to support a large-scale automation modernization initiative for Nationwide Insurance. This role will focus on modernizing enterprise automation frameworks and migrating legacy automation assets to modern Playwright-based solutions.

This is a highly technical, hands-on architecture role. Candidates must have strong expertise in Playwright, Python, enterprise automation framework development, and automation modernization initiatives.

Important: Candidates must have strong hands-on Playwright and Python expertise. This is not a managerial or governance-focused architecture role; the selected candidate will be expected to actively design, build, and guide development of enterprise automation frameworks.

• Lead automation modernization and migration initiatives
• Design and build enterprise-scale Playwright and Python automation frameworks
• Define architecture standards, reusable components, and best practices
• Provide technical leadership across Web, API, Desktop, and Database automation
• Drive architecture reviews, technical assessments, and proof-of-concepts
• Design AI-assisted solutions supporting test automation and modernization efforts
• Support CI/CD integration and automation execution strategies
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to drive transformation initiatives

• 12+ years of Test Automation and Quality Engineering experience
• 5+ years of Automation Architecture experience
• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
• Experience with Web, API, Desktop, and Database automation
• Strong CI/CD experience using Git Hub, Azure Dev Ops, and/or Jenkins
• Experience leading automation modernization or migration initiatives
• Strong stakeholder management and architecture leadership skills
• Experience with AI-native SDLC practices
• Experience with Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering, RAG, and LLM integrations

• Automation CoE and governance experience
• AI-assisted migration accelerators

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite attendance at either:

• Chicago, IL
• Columbus, OH

Candidates should expect to work onsite at least three days per week.
