McCormick YMCA is hiring part time Silver Sneakers Instructors!
As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The role is integral to the YMCA's commitment to strengthening bodies, minds, and neighborhoods.
Pay: $30‑$40 per hour based on qualifications and certifications for classes, and $20 per hour for administrative tasks and training.

- Plan and instruct fitness classes with a personalized approach following YMCA standards and guidelines.
- Design and implement safe, effective, and enjoyable fitness programs tailored to each member’s needs.
- Observe and discuss individual progress with participants, developing rapport and responding to fitness questions.
- Keep accurate records of members’ attendance and progress.
- Set up and take down class equipment; report equipment problems.
- Discuss and promote all YMCA programs; motivate members to commit to long‑term participation.
- Ensure safe and effective workouts; respond to and report accidents, incidents, and equipment problems.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required; maintain current certifications.
- Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.
- Basic knowledge of fitness or equivalent work/education experience.
- Experience with multiple fitness formats preferred.
- Minimum 25 hours of practical experience as a fitness class instructor.
- Ability to lead a fitness class and motivate and educate members in physical fitness.
- Capability to respond to safety and emergency situations; ability to set up, move, and store equipment.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Report any items that may pose a health or safety hazard to staff, members, or guests to your supervisor.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe, including monitoring and supervision.
- Report any suspicious behavior and violations of policy to your supervisor.
- Complete all required child abuse prevention training.
