Job Title: Customs Brokerage Specialist
Job Location: Chicago, IL
DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) manages the flow of goods and information across a customer’s global supply chain, including air/ocean/ground transportation, customs brokerage services, and dedicated warehousing/distribution centers. We are part of Deutsche Post DHL, the world’s leading logistics provider with operations in over 220 countries.
Key Responsibilities- Classify dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with all government agency rules and regulations.
- Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, and the weight and volume of merchandise imported or exported.
- Process all requests for extensions, expirations, cancellations, and government entries.
- Examine invoices, bill of lading, and shipping documents to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Communicate with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status, special handling, and delivery processes.
- Apply for Import/Export permits and certificates of eligibility.
- Provide information to and communicate with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
- Generate invoices on a daily basis.
- Achieve Key Performance Indicators related to quality of entry and entry filing timeliness.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Generally, 1 year of experience in a related field.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Flexibility with work hours and days of the week.
- Eager to learn the customs brokerage business.
- Reliable and dependable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
$23.36 - $31.14/hr (based on experience)
