Position: Casual Shuttle Driver/ Vehicle Rail Loader- Part Time Days or Nights

AWC is hiring several Shuttle Drivers for days or night positions. This is a casual (part time) position with shifts from 5:30am-5:30pm or 5:30pm-5:30am. You must be able to work the full shifts on every weekend with some shifts during the week (days & nights) as needed. This position is 100% outdoors driving/moving the new vehicles around our yard. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required, and you must be able to pass a drug test and background check.

Competitive pay starting at $32.00 per hour with pay increases based on the collective bargaining agreement.

Summary

Job requirements include Yard Up-fitter and Rail functions. Yard: move vehicles from Plant Release Gate to yard bays, pull vehicles from yard bays to load lines for haul-away carriers. Up-fitter Function:
Drive units to and from up-fitters, inspect units before and after delivery. Rail:
Safely driving vehicles onto or off railcars wearing PPE, securing vehicles to railcars according to manufacturer and American Association of Railroad standards, and preparing railcars for transportation. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Essential Duties and Tasks
  • Drive vehicles to and from specified locations in the yard, on and off rail cars.
  • Ensure all vehicles are parked in proper locations and bays.
  • Understand and apply all AWC, customer, AAR, safety and quality standards/policies.
  • Follow all safety guidelines to guarantee the job is done safely.
  • Identify vehicles and insert documentation as required.
  • Inform Managers of any issues that could affect production or quality.
  • Log processed work into computer programs or tracking systems as needed.
  • Meet or exceed established production and quality standards.
  • Read and match VIN numbers quickly and accurately to ensure movement of the correct vehicles.
  • Visually inspect vehicles for condition and quality.
  • Open or close railcars and raise and lower railcar components as required.
  • Secure customer vehicles to railcars using chocks and tie-downs.
  • Lift, set and pin bridge; operate buck ramps and stationary loading equipment.
  • Properly store chocks and other safety equipment; keep work areas clean.
  • Notify supervision of workplace hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Report accidents and injuries immediately and complete the appropriate forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to adhere to strict production and quality standards without variance.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to approximately 15 feet.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds overhead and push/pull 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for long periods; stand for up to 10 hours or more per shift.
  • Ability to enter/exit vehicle doors with minimal clearance; use technology to assist in job duties.
  • Ability to function under pressure; communicate effectively; work as a team; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to judge distances and maintain good balance; read and understand location cards, work orders, SDS, and basic English.
  • Ability to drive both standard and automatic vehicles; follow written and verbal directions.
  • Knowledge of hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Must pass AWC pre-placement background clearances including pre-employment drug screening and HPE physical demand testing.
  • High School Diploma and/or GED; good attendance; good visual and auditory ability; positively represent AWC; strong attention to detail.
