Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production equipment and systems in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on preventive and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of machinery.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs on machinery, motors, sensors, and related components when issues arise.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Use mechatronics knowledge to diagnose and resolve issues involving integrated mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Conduct PLC troubleshooting at the machine level to support equipment operation and resolve basic control issues.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and document maintenance activities, findings, and repairs performed.
  • Support manufacturing operations by responding promptly to maintenance requests and minimizing production interruptions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working on electrical, mechanical, and powered systems.
  • Participate in ongoing training to build skills in maintenance, troubleshooting, and manufacturing technologies.
Essential Skills
  • Experience or training in preventive and reactive maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, moving components, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and components, including sensors and basic motor controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems and identify leaks, pressure issues, and component failures.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting skills at the machine level to support equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance instructions and safely use tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting skills to systematically diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Willingness to work weekend shifts after initial training period.
  • Strong commitment to safety when working with electrical, mechanical, and powered equipment.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Completion of a vocational school program or technical training in maintenance, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, or a related field.
  • Mechatronics background or coursework combining mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Exposure to welding and basic fabrication is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance and production team.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new technologies and equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with hands-on work on production equipment and systems. Initial training takes place on first shift, typically from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, to help you learn the equipment, processes, and safety procedures. After training, you transition to a weekend shift schedule that includes Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and additional weekend hours designed to provide a four-day, 40-hour workweek.

You work around machinery, electrical panels, motors, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatics, using standard maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment. The environment is active and production-focused, requiring adherence to safety protocols and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial setting.
