Chief Dental Officer Salary Range: $35.53 - $49.04 Hourly
Under general supervision of the Chief Dental Officer (CDO), The Registered Dental Assistant Extended Functions II will function as a circulating assistant in chairside dental procedures. The RDAEFII will perform all duties of Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant and other functions legally allowed in the State of California.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIESAll duties performed as Dental Assistant (See Dental Assistant job description) and as Registered Dental Assistant Ability to perform all phases of four (4) handed Dental Assisting duties for endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, prosthodontics and restorative procedures.
- a) Cord retraction of gingivae for impression procedures
- b) Takes impressions for cast restorations (crowns, bridges)
- c) Taking final impressions for permanent indirect restorations
- d) Takes impressions for space maintainers, orthodontic appliance, and occlusal guards
- e) Prepares enamel by etching for bonding
- f) Formulates indirect patterns for endodontic post core castings
- g) Fit trial endodontic filling points
- h) Applies pit and fissure sealant
- i) Place, contour, finish, and adjust all direct restorations.
- j) Adjust and adhere all permanent indirect restorations
- k) Place interim therapeutic restorations (ITRs) to stabilize the tooth until a licensed dentist diagnoses the need for further definitive treatment or after the supervising dentist confirms a diagnosis and provides instruction to perform the procedure in a dental office setting, under the direct or general supervision of a dentist or after the supervising dentist confirms a diagnosis and provides instruction to perform the procedure in public health settings, using telehealth for the purpose of communication with the supervising dentist, including, but not limited to, schools, Head Start and preschool programs, and community clinics, under the general supervision of a dentist.
- l) Perform post, core, and build-up procedures in conjunction with direct and indirect restorations.
- m) Take final impressions for tooth-borne removeable prosthesis.
- n) Remove excess cement from subgingival tooth surfaces with a hand instrument
- 3) Perform oral health assessments, including intraoral and extraoral soft tissue evaluations to identify oral lesions, classifying occlusion, performing myofunctional evaluations, and oral cancer screenings as authorized by the supervising dentist.
- 4) Perform oral health assessments in school-based, community health project settings under the direction of a dentist, registered dental hygienist, or registered dental hygienist in alternative practice.
- 5) Effectively pour models and conduct other lab procedures.
- 6) Determine which radiographs to perform on a patient who has not received an initial examination by the supervising dentist for the specific purpose of the dentist making a diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient. The RDAEF shall follow protocols established by the supervising dentist.
- 7) Ability to instruct patients in oral hygiene and preventive dental education under the supervision of the dentist.
- 8) Perform charting activities and document exam findings in patient record.
- 9) Ability to plan work duties to ensure dental clinic efficiency. Knowledge of patient scheduling procedures and excellent time management to ensure dental clinic efficiency.
- 10) Employee Safety:
Safely performs all duties; follows required protective protocols to ensure personal safety as well as the safety of others. - 11) Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches.

Responsible for ensuring that all duties, responsibilities and operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved, including themselves. - 13) Safety:
Take appropriate corrective actions to address matters pertaining to employee health and safety that have been brought to their attention. - 14) Work in conjunction with the Dental Director/Staff Dentists/Manager of Dental Clinic Services to develop and implement patient plans to meet production goals.
