  • Lecturer A/2 Full‑Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
  • Lecturer B/3 Full‑Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
  • Lecturer C/4 Full‑Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
  • Lecturer D/5 Full‑Time Equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 – $15,211 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. See the Faculty Salaries At‑a‑Glance guide for more information.

Position Summary:

The Philosophy Department in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026‑27 academic year. We are primarily looking for instructors to teach in person. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a master’s degree in philosophy or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with the degree of PhD (or equivalent), teaching experience, and expertise in subjects relevant to the department’s teaching needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses, with assignments based on qualifications and departmental needs.

The Department:

The Philosophy Department offers a bachelor’s degree as well as a minor in Philosophy, a minor in Ethics, and a minor in Philosophy and Law. There are about thirty students enrolled in the major. The bulk of the department’s instruction serves undergraduate students in lower- and upper‑division general education.
