The Position:
Senior Assistant Tenure‑Track Librarian for Health Sciences and Community Services (Meriam Library, College of Library). Position starts Summer 2026. Salary commensurate with education and experience (anticipated range: $7,127–$15,211 per month). Initial review date: 03/02/2026.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA‑accredited institution. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than the start date of the position.
- Demonstrated knowledge of disciplinary terminology and familiarity with the latest methods used in health sciences or community services related research and scholarly publishing.
- Experience in teaching or providing health sciences or community services research assistance in a library, medical, or other related environment. Teaching experience accrued as a graduate student will be considered.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
The Health Sciences and Community Services Librarian will provide information literacy instruction, in‑depth research consultations, and reference service to faculty, undergraduates, and master’s students in both face‑to‑face and online environments. The position will collaborate and contribute to the development, delivery, and assessment of library instructional and outreach services and will work in a collaborative setting to improve teaching, learning, and inclusivity at the Meriam Library.
SuccessfulCandidate Responsibilities
- Serve as liaison to health sciences and community services programs, including the School of Nursing, Public Health & Health Services Administration, Child Development, and the School of Social Work.
- Provide instruction, faculty consultation, and student research assistance to liaison departments and programs.
- Meet research, publication, and service requirements to attain tenure.
- Work with other librarians to develop and implement information literacy instruction across disciplines.
- Develop shared instructional materials in a variety of formats.
- Pursue outreach efforts to engage the students and academic community.
- Engage in collection development activities in assigned subject areas.
- Participate in shared reference, consultation, and related activities.
