LOCATION: This position will be located on the Chico State campus, with occasional off-campus hours for excursions or site visits.

RESIDENCY: Candidate must be a California resident. Chico State Enterprises is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e., H-1B Visas).

POSITION OVERVIEW: College Corps seeks to build the next generation of civic leaders by engaging college students in meaningful community service. College Corps has three primary goals:

  • Engage college students in meaningful service opportunities that build leadership skills and civic responsibility.
  • Help students from diverse backgrounds graduate college on time and with less debt.
  • Support the work of community-based organizations focused on key local priorities (education, food security, and climate change).

The case manager plays a key role in supporting the member experience of the grant-funded #Californians For All  College Corps program (College Corps), managed by Chico State Enterprises. The successful applicant will actively contribute to the College Corps program planning, coordination, and implementation, including, but not limited to, promoting the program; recruiting and communicating with students; supporting student fellows; engaging fellows through regular weekly check-ins;

tracking data; maintaining accurate records; and collaborating across the university.

A strong understanding of the challenges facing today’s university students, particularly those navigating additional barriers, is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to provide effective support and advocacy.

HOURS: This position is expected to begin on July 27, 2026. It is an academic-year appointment with the possibility of renewal or extension depending on project needs. The role will primarily follow the academic calendar, with reduced hours during academic breaks, including fall, intersession, and spring breaks. Summer employment (mid-May through early August) may be available depending on project demands, available funding, and staffing needs.

Total annual hours will not exceed 1,500.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
:

Working under the supervision of senior program staff, typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the associate directors in creating meaningful service and professional development experiences for all College Corps (CC) members (referred to as fellows) and community host partners.
  • Mentoring College Corps fellows to increase their likelihood of success as students, fellows, and members of the broader academic community, and assisting them in developing realistic success plans for their service year. This includes monitoring fellow performance and intervening early with solutions, guidance, and follow-up to improve individual and cohort retention, progression, and performance metrics.
  • Preparing, with support from staff and the fellow, individual Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for fellows who are unable to meet program performance milestones related to service and training hours, engagement in cohort activities, reporting and record-keeping, and required surveys.
  • Supporting the assessment of program offerings that directly impact College Corps fellows, participating in community and university events to effectively communicate the program’s mission, goals, and objectives to students, faculty, and community members.
  • Scheduling and facilitating regular individual and group meetings with assigned College Corps fellows.
  • Tracking fellows’ training and service hours using student success sheets and other tools developed by program staff and/or the program sponsor, California Volunteers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive situations and information.
