Job/Department SummaryThe Student Services Professional III performs complex student services work, providing independent advisement and guidance in individual and group settings. The role includes oversight of intentional residential life programming, collaboration with student governance bodies, and development of policies, procedures, and operating principles related to residential life and student governance. The incumbent spends substantial time in advisement sessions and uses judgment, persuasiveness, and professional skills to achieve program goals.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- Graduation from a four‑year college or university in behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related field.
- Three years of full‑time professional experience in a student services program area or related field.
- A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of professional experience.
- Additional specialized experience that demonstrates effectiveness as a Student Services professional may substitute for required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Master’s degree in Behavioral, Social Science, College Student Professional, Higher Education, Counseling, Management, Public Administration, Sociology, or related discipline.
- One year of full‑time equivalent experience in the assigned area.
- Experience advising a community or hall council or student group.
Time Base: Full‑time
Pay Plan: 12/12
Work Schedule: Mon‑Fri 8:00 am‑5:00 pm;
Summer Mon‑Thurs 7:00 am‑5:30 pm
Salary Range: $66,480 – $94,716 per year (CSU Classification)
Benefits: Tuition fee waiver (if eligible) and standard CSU benefits (sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Additional benefits may be available.
Additional InformationApplicants will need to disclose any final administrative or judicial decision regarding sexual harassment within the last seven years, following a determination of minimum qualifications. Final‑stage applicants must sign a release form authorizing disclosure of any substantiated allegations of misconduct to CSU.
Applicants may be required to undergo background checks, including criminal records, sexual offender registry, and fingerprinting. Failure to complete or pass these checks may affect the offer or continued employment.
This is a sensitive position; the incumbent is responsible for protecting Level 1 protected data.
Applicants must hold a valid California Driver’s License and complete the CSU Defensive Driving Course.
