2026-27 Lecturer Pool Department of Geography and Environmental Studies
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-27 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies has demand-based needs for a part-time lecturer (or lecturers) primarily for the following general education (GE) courses:

Environmental Impact Analysis
The lecturer(s) will be assigned to selected courses from this list, based on current needs. Scheduling decisions may result in emergency hires with short preparation timelines. Applicants for a pool of lecturers must be residents of California upon the commencement of this hire.
The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a Master's degree or higher degree in Geography or a closely related field from an accredited university by the time of employment. Applicants with prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Geography, particularly in lower-division GE courses, laboratory courses, and/or online courses are also preferred.
Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of developing course content, teaching, grading, holding office hours, and writing a syllabus. The responsibilities include the use of a learning management system (Canvas). Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.
Applicants must provide a current cover letter (including how you have addressed, or plan to address teaching to diverse student groups), a CV, a list of courses you believe you are qualified to teach and for which you wish to be considered (include a list of any courses previously taught (include dates) with a short description of those courses), a copy of unofficial transcripts for your highest earned degree, contact information of three professional references.
