Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join our team and help shape the next generation of Chico's youth! CARD is looking for enthusiastic, dependable Recreation Leaders to join our Toddler & Community Programming team — and make a real difference in kids' lives while having a blast doing it. In this role, you'll bring energy and heart to programs like our Toddler Sports Clinics (ShortE Sports for ages 3–5), Homeschool Programs, and our Youth Leader (YL) teen development program, among others.

If you love working with toddlers, children and teens, thrive on play-based learning, and want to build hands-on leadership experience while creating fun, memorable moments that help young people grow, connect, and thrive — this is the opportunity for you. Come be part of a supportive team that's investing in the future of our community, one smile at a time!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate games, activities, and lessons for toddlers (ages 3–5) and/or homeschool/teen participants
  • Supervise participants to ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment at all times
  • Set up, maintain, and put away equipment and program materials before and after each session
  • Communicate professionally and warmly with parents/guardians, teen Youth Leaders, and staff mentors
  • Serve as a mentor to Youth Leader teens, modeling leadership and providing on-the-job coaching
  • Assist with attendance tracking, incident reports, and other basic program administration
  • Follow CARD safety protocols, including supervision ratios and emergency procedures
  • Support additional Toddler & Community Programming programs, events and camps as assigned
Who We Are Looking For:
  • Someone patient, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with young children and/or teens
  • A dependable team player with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable leading groups and adapting activities on the fly
  • Strong critical thinking and sound judgment, with the ability to make quick, appropriate decisions in dynamic program settings
  • Committed to upholding the integrity of the program, fellow staff, and the organization through professional, ethical conduct at all times
  • Creating a safe, fun environment that participants and staff are excited to be apart of.
Schedule:

Part-time, seasonal schedule. Days and hours vary by program assignment and may include weekday mornings/afternoons and/or Saturdays and Sundays. Typical shifts range from 2-4 hours per session, 2-3 days per week; exact schedule to be confirmed based on program need.

Employment Dates:

October 1, 2026 through June 4, 2027. Hours and assignments will fluctuate seasonally.
