The Position: Assistant Tenure-Track Professor

Position Starts: Fall 2027

College: College of Communication and Education

Department/School: Communication Arts and Sciences Department (CMAS)/Communication Sciences and Disorders Program (CMSD)

Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. (Anticipated hiring range: $74,652-$ per year, applicants can expect to be hired near the start of the range).

The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a doctorate (research or clinical) in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related areas. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than the start date of the position. Applicants must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)-SLP and be immediately eligible for California licensure.

A commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds is also required.

Candidates must meet current American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requirements for the supervision of speech-language pathology graduate students ( https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ). Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to teach courses across a range of topics in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Sciences and Disorders to meet program needs, as well as the potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship. Experience in clinical settings and developing, maintaining, and engaging in community partnerships is required.

This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, as well as clinical instruction and supervision. Scholarship responsibilities include research and other activities that support continued professional growth and achievement. Service responsibilities include student advising and mentoring and service to the department and university. The program utilizes a teacher-scholar model in which teaching is emphasized and professional growth and achievement, including research, are required.

Teaching assignments are based upon the qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is in the College of Communication and Education at Chico State. The graduate program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). There are five tenured/tenure-track faculty as well as several part-time non-tenured faculty. The program's emphasis is primarily directed toward preparing highly qualified clinicians in speech-language pathology.
