Under the general direction of the Manager, Radiology and the immediate supervision of the Lead Diagnostic Technologist, the Diagnostic Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision. The Diagnostic Technologist can perform all general diagnostic radiographic exams and may also be cross‑trained in other imaging modalities. They assume responsibility for designated areas as assigned, operate X‑ray equipment, manipulate digital images, prepare patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and contrast media.
The Diagnostic Technologist may be assigned Technologist‑In‑Charge duties on an as‑needed basis and may float to remote locations as required.
- One‑year experience if performing Technologist‑In‑Charge duties.
- Current full Certificate of Radiologic Technology issued by the Department of Health Services, State of California (CRT) (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Current CPR certification.
- Fluoroscopy Permit (to be obtained within 6 months of hire). If an employee does not pass the initial exam within 6 months of hire, they must retake and pass within 6 months; failure to pass the second attempt results in employment separation.
- Two years’ experience in diagnostic X‑ray in an acute care setting.
- Current licensure issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of human anatomy and function, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic exposure, quality assurance, radiation physics, radiation protection, radiation biology, and specialized techniques as required for a Radiologic Technologist. Must be self‑motivated, have excellent communication skills, problem‑solving techniques, and be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
