Job/Department

Summary

Working independently under general supervision, the IT Asset Management Specialist serves as the campus subject matter expert and program owner for the full lifecycle management of university-owned end-user and departmental hardware, including desktops, laptops, peripherals, and specialized computing devices. This role leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of hardware lifecycle programs, including PC as a Service (PCaaS), departmental purchasing models, and special-purpose computing environments.

The incumbent applies advanced technical, analytical, and policy expertise to evaluate technology solutions, vendor options, lifecycle cost models, and system integrations, ensuring the scalable, compliant, and sustainable delivery of hardware services across the institution. This position exercises independent judgment in developing hardware standards, refresh strategies, and operational workflows in collaboration with IT engineering teams, Procurement, Accounting, and Information Security.

The role is responsible for developing and maintaining lifecycle processes and system integrations that support procurement, deployment, inventory control, refresh scheduling, and secure retirement of hardware assets. The position provides advanced analysis and forecasting to support budget planning, service model decisions, and long-range operational planning for campus hardware services.

Required Education And Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferences

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

  • Experience managing hardware lifecycle programs.
  • Experience with Team Dynamix or equivalent asset management tools.
  • Knowledge of environmentally responsible e-waste and surplus practices.

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer:
Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm

CSU Classification Salary Range: $77,904 (Step
1) - $113,496 (step 20) per year.
