The Senior Buyer is responsible for supporting production lines as well as driving cost savings and supporting strategic initiatives. The role also includes mentoring and leading other members of the purchasing organization.
Essential Job Functions and Duties- Identify, evaluate, and select vendors who can provide high-quality products and other supplies at competitive prices.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to ensure the company receives the best possible terms.
- Place purchase orders for supplies and parts required for the production of automobile assembly, track purchase orders, and monitor vendor quality.
- Manage costs associated with the procurement of commodities, working closely with stakeholders to align procurement activities with production and financial goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with wholesalers and suppliers.
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials, and communicate any supply problems that may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices, and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to achieve business savings using negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Generate cost savings through resourcing, value engineering, and supplier partnership efforts.

- Complete all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university or 10 years of commensurate experience.
- 5+ years of sourcing experience.
- Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Proficient in procurement software and systems.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data‑driven decisions.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Participate in required company safety programs, trainings, and PPE guidelines.
