TNAA Total Med RN is seeking an Operating Room (OR) RN (Travel Nurse) for a 13‑week assignment in Chico, California. The position requires 13 weeks of travel nursing with a 36‑hour work week, 12‑hour shifts (days), and is classified as a Travel assignment.
Responsibilities- Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education to patients.
- Provide basic bedside care.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
- Act as the communication liaison between patients’ family members and operating team members.
- Ensure that the correct procedure(s) are performed on the correct patient.
- Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physicians and teach patients and families how to manage medication and home‑care needs.
- Respond to comfort and safety needs of patients.
- Accurately handle specimens.
- Monitor equipment used during surgery.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
- Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
- Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
- Help control bleeding.
- Suture patients following surgery.
OR Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. Nurses should be able to easily lift 20 pounds, though lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. They may face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.
Qualifications- BLS or equivalent.
- ACLS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse; RN first assistant experience is preferred.
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning the assignment.
- Pay package based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation).
