Position: Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) - Intermittent

Summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) III Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Primary Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position.

Duties
  • Independently manage a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
  • Demonstrate leadership and work collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Order and interpret labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services.
  • Provide education to patients and their families.
  • Assess and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

    Preferred Experience:

    Possess physician experience in Primary Care, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine;
    Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
Licensure and Schedule
  • One full and unrestricted license from any US state or territory.
  • Work schedule:

    intermittent compressed/flexible; telework not available; position is not virtual.
  • Relocation and recruitment incentives: not authorized.
