The Multi-Purpose Clerk - Deli position is located at 146 W East Ave., Chico, CA 95926. The Multi-Purpose Clerk is an integral part of a highly motivated team focused on serving guests with an emphasis on the overall total store guest experience to consistently meet or exceed guest expectations. The role may be assigned to Center Store Market, Fresh Market Departments, or Guest Services.

The Clerk promotes sales, answers questions, responds to guest requests for products, and accurately places special orders. The Clerk practices safe food handling, maintains a clean and safe work area, and logs/receives/inspects products for shipment accuracy and quality. The Clerk stocks, rotates, and merchandises products to maintain freshness and department appeal.

• Center Store/Front End – Operate the check stand; memorize PLU codes; stock, rotate, and merchandise products; perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce – Receive, inspect, and log products; trim, wash, and wrap produce; maintain freshness; keep floral area clean.
• Meat/Seafood – Receive, inspect, log products; weigh, wrap, and label; stock, rotate, and merchandise; provide guest service at seafood counter; take special orders; may operate slicers/wrappers; keep area clean.
• Bakery/Deli – Receive, inspect, log; prepare, weigh, package, label; stock and merchandise; take special orders; may operate ovens/proofers/slicers/mixers; keep area clean.
• Janitorial – Clean and sanitize store areas; operate janitorial equipment as needed.
• Valley Fresh – Produce processing and packaging; stock/rotate merchandise; maintain department cleanliness.
• Restaurant – Operate register; take guest orders; service completed orders; maintain cleanliness; may be required to handle restaurant offerings.

• Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness of store areas.
• May operate forklift or baler if authorized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hiring pay range: $17.15 - 26.20

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Excellent guest service and communication skills
• Ability to work with urgency and self-motivation
• Proactive, initiative, enthusiastic, and flexible on the job

High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience

Six months of grocery retail related experience

Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be at least 18 years of age

Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis; requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance
