Salary: $55,395 to $97,700 per year
Job DescriptionThe primary function of a teacher is to deliver the district curriculum in multiple ways that increase student learning and achievement.
Responsibilities- Teach elementary school students academic, social, and motor skills through the delivery of the district curriculum.
- Prepare class objectives and outlines that align with the district approved curriculum.
- Prepare, administer, correct, and analyze student assessments.
- Utilize the conclusions derived from assessment analysis to develop lessons.
- Instruct students on rules of conduct and expected behaviors.
- Manage his/her class as well as other students wherever those students may be located, whether on campus or off‑campus events.
- Identify students with academic issues and refer those students to appropriate service providers.
- Regularly inform parents or guardians of their students’ academic performance and behavior.
- Maintain records, attendance, and grades as required by the school.
- Plan, organize, and deliver differentiated instruction in an appropriate manner consistent with district curriculum.
- Provide timely feedback to students, parents, and guardians on evaluations.
- Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote critical, creative, and evaluative thinking skills.
- Strive to maintain a learning environment that is both physically and emotionally safe.
- Effectively and regularly communicate with fellow staff members and school administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, school administration, or superintendent of schools.
- Assist in the communication and enforcement of federal and state laws and regulations as well as district policies and procedures.
- Work cooperatively with school administration, staff, and special education.
- Respect students, parents, guardians, and community.
- Assist parents with questions and concerns.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and guardians.
- Respect and embrace students of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Assist in the protection of students and property.
- Assist Principal or Vice Principal in fire and other emergency drills.
- Assist the Principal or Vice Principal in the management of students (e.g., dismissal, field trips, etc.).
- Maintain a high level of personal integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic.
- Participate in district professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
- Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment, lift up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, stand, crouch, and bend for long periods. - Data Conception:
Ability to compare and judge observable characteristics of data, people, or things. - Interpersonal Communication:
Ability to speak, signal, and convey information to others. - Language Ability:
Ability to read, write, and prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents while speaking before groups with poise. - Intelligence:
Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. - Verbal Aptitude:
Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions. - Numerical Aptitude:
Ability to employ mathematical formulas, percentages, and algebraic principles. - Form/Spatial Aptitude:
Ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape. - Motor Coordination:
Ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately with office equipment. - Manual Dexterity:
Ability to handle a variety of office equipment and hand tools with minimal eye/hand/foot coordination. - Interpersonal:
Ability to adapt to stressful situations and emergency circumstances. - Physical Communication:
Ability to talk and hear, including telephone communication.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
