Objective

The primary function of a teacher is to deliver the district curriculum in multiple ways that increase student learning and achievement.

Responsibilities
  • Teach middle and high school students academic, social, and life skills through the delivery of district instruction, curriculum, and assessment.
  • Prepare, administer, correct, and analyze student assessments.
  • Use assessment analysis to develop lessons.
  • Instruct students on rules of conduct and expected behaviors.
  • Manage classroom and other students on campus and at off‑campus events.
  • Identify students with academic issues and refer them to appropriate service providers.
  • Inform parents or guardians of students’ academic performance and behavior.
  • Maintain records, attendance, and grades as required by the district.
  • Assign lessons and correct homework in a timely manner.
  • Use various teaching methods, including lecture, demonstration, audiovisual aids.
  • Plan, organize, and deliver differentiated instruction consistent with district curriculum.
  • Maintain school and classroom discipline.
  • Meet or call parents to discuss student progress and issues.
  • Provide timely feedback to students, parents, and guardians on evaluations.
  • Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote critical, creative, and evaluative thinking skills.
  • Strive to maintain a physically and emotionally safe learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with staff members and school administration.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Assist students in selecting courses of study and counsel them on academic problems.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent.
  • Assist in communication and enforcement of federal, state laws, and district policies.
  • Collaborate with school administration, staff, and special education.
  • Represent the school to the community, respecting and embracing students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Assist parents with questions and concerns.
  • Help protect students and property; assist with emergency drills.
  • Support Principal or Vice Principal in student management (dismissal, field trips).
  • Maintain personal integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Participate in district professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

    Ability to adapt to stress and emergency situations.
  • Physical Communication:
    Ability to talk and hear, communicate via telephone.
Job Requirements
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Bachelor degree (preferred).
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
