REPORTS TO: Building Principal and classroom teacher
OBJECTIVE: The primary function of a paraprofessional is to perform duties assigned by the classroom teacher in delivery of the district curriculum, supporting student learning and achievement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the direction of the classroom teacher, the Education Support Professional supports student instruction in academic, social, and motor skills through delivery and assessment of the district curriculum in consultation with the Individual Education Plan.
Duties include:
- Work with small groups of students
- Administer, correct, and communicate basic analysis of student assessments
- Use conclusions from assessment analysis to inform subsequent instruction
- Instruct students on rules of conduct and expected behaviors
- Report academic, social, and motor issues to the classroom teacher
- Support class objectives and outlines aligned with the approved curriculum
- Maintain records, attendance, and assessments as required
- Assist in preparation of classroom materials
- Assist in delivery of differentiated instruction consistent with district curriculum
- Provide timely feedback on student progress
- Assist students with activities of daily living (e.g., diapering, toileting) as necessary
- Receive training on techniques such as Responsive Classroom, Behavior Plan implementation, communication boards, de‑escalation, and subject‑specific supplementary services
- Work independently following teacher directions
- Demonstrate dependability, time management, and communication skills
- Show flexibility and adaptability to changing educational environments
- Apply sound judgment and maintain professional relationships with staff, parents, and administrators
- Resolve conflicts and seek assistance when appropriate
- Maintain a physically and emotionally safe learning environment
- Assist in enforcement of federal and state laws, regulations, and district policies
- Other duties as assigned
- If assigned to the computer lab, manage equipment, assist students with software, maintain usage records, and keep inventory of hardware and instructional materials
- High school diploma required; additional college coursework preferred (associate or bachelor’s degree desirable)
- Passing score on DESE‑endorsed assessments (Work Keys or Para Pro) if no college degree
- Bilingual in Spanish/English, Farsi, Russian, or other languages preferred
- Previous experience in educational support roles preferred

Full‑Time
SALARY$22,777 to $36,324 per year
JOB REQUIREMENTS- At least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred)
