Assistant Teacher - College and Career Center

To support students in grades 6–12 with college, career, and post‑secondary planning by providing individualized assistance, facilitating career and college readiness activities, maintaining accurate student records, and supporting the daily operations of the College and Career Center in collaboration with counselors, administrators, and program staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist students in grades 6–12 with creating and maintaining customized success plans using college and career software to evaluate academic and professional objectives.
  • In collaboration with the School Counselor and Director, provide high school students (grades 9–12) with resources and support on post‑secondary education, employment, and career options, including building 4‑year career portfolios.
  • Assist middle school students (grades 6–8) in exploring career options and secondary education programs through interest assessments using college and career software.
  • Offer one‑on‑one coaching on career‑related skills, including resume building, personal branding, and interview preparation in collaboration with the College & Career Counselor.
  • Provide resources, workshops, and individualized feedback to help students explore college, military, and career pathways.
  • Support and deliver career readiness activities, including work‑based learning experiences, mock interviews, job applications, and scholarship searches.
  • Monitor and track student progress toward success plan goals using Google Sheets and MassCIS, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Act as a point of contact for students in the Career Center programs. Gather assignments, communicate important information to students and support successful participation.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the College & Career Center, ensuring it is a welcoming, safe, and resourceful environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist students and interns in signing in and accessing resources in the center, troubleshooting technical issues, and navigating career‑related tools.
  • Contribute to an updated shared resource for job openings, internships, and career opportunities on the Career Center website.
  • Collaborate in publicizing career and post‑secondary services, events, and resources by creating promotional materials in collaboration with the Director and other staff.
  • Greet and check in guests, vendors, and dignitaries during career center visits or events, ensuring a professional and organized environment.
  • Promote events, presenting information and interacting with students.
  • Chaperone field trips as needed.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and College & Career Counselors to support College & Career Center initiatives and programs.
  • Attend daily virtual meetings with the Career Center team to coordinate activities and updates.
  • Respond to student inquiries through walk‑ins, emails, and referral forms, and schedule students for coaching, workshops, or counseling sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, portfolios, and work‑based learning performance.
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of workshops, guest speaker events, and field trips related to college and career planning.
  • Update and maintain student records in college and career software and College & Career Center log, ensuring accurate data entry and referencing current enrollments.
  • Generate and analyze reports on student goals, progress, and career interests using databases such as MassCIS and the Connecting Activities Database.
  • Create and manage batch download templates for My Career & Academic Plan (MyCAP) Success Planning and upload student information as required.
  • Ensure data integrity by collaborating with staff to improve data entry and management processes.
  • Utilize the district’s student information system for reports and planning. Use the SIS to look up student records, run detailed reports, and support planning related to student progress, goals, and career readiness.
