- Assist with the technical development of automotive and mobility products, including timing chain systems, selectable clutches, driveline disconnects, and park lock devices.
- Develop and support cost studies for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) proposals.
- Design system and component-level solutions, creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
- Coordinate engineering drawing approvals, manage Bill of Materials (BOM) updates, and support drawing implementation with cross-functional teams.
- Communicate engineering specifications and requirements clearly to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage Design Gantt Charts, conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs), and lead Design Reviews internally and with supply chain partners.
- Develop and coordinate Verification Plans, plan testing procedures, and oversee testing activities in the USTA Auto lab, including issuing work orders, coordinating test parts, and compiling customer reports.
- Support the launch of mass production by collaborating with APQP teams on Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
- Assist Sales and New Product Development teams in exploring and securing new business opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience or related field.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficiency in CAD software; NX, CATIA, or Solid Works preferred.
- Familiarity with automotive engines, transmissions, AIAG standards, and practices.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in analysis and simulation software preferred.
- Ability to learn complex testing procedures and instrumentation.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Critical and creative thinking skills, especially under pressure.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Skills:
- Additional experience with analysis and simulation software.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and advanced testing methodologies.
- Exposure to project management tools and methodologies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 5+years of engineering experience with automotive or mobility projects.
- Practical knowledge of GD&T, CAD software, and testing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, regulations, and standards.
- Strong mathematical background in geometry, calculus, and differential equations.
- Capable of applying problem-solving skills to complex challenges.
- Willingness to travel as required to support project milestones and customer engagement
