Westover Job Corps Center is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to use your accounting and financial management skills to support a mission that changes lives.

As an Accounting Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of the center while helping provide the resources and services that empower young adults to achieve their educational and career goals.

Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist performs a variety of accounting and financial functions in accordance with company policies and government regulations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable activities, monitoring financial transactions, and supporting audit and compliance requirements.

What You'll Do Financial Operations
  • Maintain accounting records and financial control procedures.
  • Review and process invoices to ensure timely and accurate payment.
  • Monitor revenue and expense transactions to ensure proper recording and classification.
  • Review account coding and classifications for Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial documentation.
  • Ensure purchase requisitions, including recurring requisitions, are entered accurately and timely.
  • Verify compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Support internal controls and financial accountability processes.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
Purchasing & Financial Compliance
  • Ensure purchase requisitions, including recurring requisitions, are entered accurately and timely.
  • Verify compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Support internal controls and financial accountability processes.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
Supporting the Mission
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the center through sound financial management.
  • Collaborate with departments across the center to support student programs and services.
  • Help ensure resources are managed responsibly to support student success and career development.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of the position.
Qualifications Education
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience
  • Minimum two years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or related experience preferred.
Licenses
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Understanding of financial reporting requirements and internal controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and financial management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
