Summary

The City of Chicopee's City Clerk’s Office is looking to hire a Compliance Officer to respond to all complaints regarding unlicensed dogs received by the Office. The position is also responsible for notifying residents who fail to properly license their dog(s), including mailed and hand‑delivered notifications for non‑compliance. Additionally, the officer tracks payments of nuisance tickets issued by various city departments, including the Chicopee Police Department, Chicopee Fire Department, and interacts with the Chicopee District Court.

Duties
  • Respond to and handle dog licensing complaints.
  • Mail and/or hand‑deliver notifications and citations.
  • Follow up on and receive payment on all nuisance tickets.
  • Maintain records of all dog licenses and nuisance tickets.
  • Act as the Municipal Hearing Officer to hear appeals of citations written by Local Code Enforcement Officials and Fire Officials.
  • Track and ensure business certificates are accurate and kept current.
  • Serve as Chief of Security for municipal, state, and federal elections.
  • Assist with general office and election work in the City Clerk’s Office as needed.
  • Other duties assigned by the City Clerk.
  • Work to improve infrastructure and transportation Systems To Support Economic Growth.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3–6 months related experience and/or training.
  • Experience in the issuance of citations and/or subpoenas.
  • May have to take a Municipal Hearings course.
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Working knowledge of MGL Chapter 40 Section 21(D) Non‑criminal disposition of City Ordinances.
  • Working knowledge of MGL Chapter 140 Section 137 Registration and Licenses.
  • Working knowledge of the City of Chicopee Codes Chapters 109, 144, 160, 169, 172, 188, 200, 206, 223, 243, 256, 262 and 269.
