Guidewire Inc is seeking a Maintenance Team Member to help keep our cloud-based insurance platform secure, reliable, and performant. You'll monitor production systems, investigate and resolve incidents, and execute routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades. Working closely with engineering, SRE, and support teams, you'll follow runbooks, refine operational processes, and contribute to automation that reduces toil and downtime. This role is ideal for detail-oriented technologists who enjoy solving infrastructure and application issues in a collaborative, low-ego, global engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, monitoring, and health checks on Guidewire cloud environments and related IT systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application, and performance incidents within defined SLAs
- Execute deployment, patching, and upgrade activities following change management standards
- Document runbooks, procedures, and incident resolutions for knowledge sharing and continuity
- Collaborate with software engineering, SRE, and support teams to prevent recurring issues
- Monitor system alerts and logs, escalating complex problems appropriately
- Support on-call rotations to ensure high availability and reliability of production services
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive maintenance tasks and improve system reliability
- Follow security, compliance, and data protection policies in all maintenance activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and operational best practices
Required Skills
- Linux/Unix system administration
- Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Cloud
- Watch)
- Shell scripting or Python for automation
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools
- Incident management and root cause analysis
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing)
- Database basics (SQL, backups, performance)
- ITIL or structured change management processes
- Security best practices for cloud environments
