Job Overview
Maintenance technician, 1st shift.
Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Dismantle and repair machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, or machinery
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs, online stores, and suppliers.
- Plan repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Clean work areas and perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.
- Fabricate, paint or repair counters, benches, partitions, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
- Align and balance new equipment after installation.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
- Cutting, grinding, brazing and fabrication activities.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance programs.
- Develop equipment or component configurations.
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance activities.
- Experience with maintenance of CNC machinery is preferred, but not necessary.
- Experience with corrective and preventive maintenance of plant equipment and machinery.
- High School Diploma
- Technical School Degree and/or Military Training a plus
- Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Repairing - Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Installation - Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
- Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
- Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Visualization - The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.
- Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
