Floater Utility Worker -- Production Support
Location: Chicopee, MA
Job Type: Full‑Time
Job Summary
This position requires a high degree of schedule flexibility, including availability to work any shift as dictated by business needs. The Utility Worker -- Production Support provides critical support to manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely movement of raw materials and finished goods throughout the production floor. This role supports workflow efficiency, assists with machine operations, and ensures materials are properly staged and available to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Transport raw materials and finished products between workstations and storage areas
- Supply production lines with required materials to ensure continuous operation
- Remove finished goods and scrap materials from production areas
- Assist with labeling, packaging, and staging of products
- Verify material quantities and match products to production orders
- Support production teams with general labor needs and workflow coordination
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of production areas
- Identify and report material issues, shortages, or quality concerns
- Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Pay & Work Schedule
Hourly Rate: $20/hr + applicable shift premium
Shift Differentials: $1.00/hr for 2nd shift; $2.00/hr for 3rd shift
Schedule:
Monday -- Friday;
Saturdays required during peak production or as business needs dictate
Shifts
- 1st: 7:00 AM -- 3:00 PM
- 2nd: 3:00 PM -- 11:00 PM
- 3rd: 11:00 PM -- 7:00 AM
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (math skills preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or production environments preferred
- Forklift or material handling equipment experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across teams
- Understanding of production flow and material handling processes preferred
- Dependable with consistent attendance and reliability
- Willingness and ability to learn, adapt, and take direction
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Regular lifting, carrying, walking, bending, and reaching
- Frequent use of hands and coordination (hand/eye, depth perception)
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- Exposure to warehouse conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise
- Exposure to noise, inks, solvents, adhesives, and high‑speed machinery
- Must remain alert and attentive to safely operate production equipment for a full shift
