Chicopee's Department of Public Works
- Water Division is hiring a

Water System Maintenance Worker. Under supervision/direction, the Water

System Maintenance Worker will work with personnel, equipment, and

resources to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled manual work

in the construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of a water

system including water mains, service connections, hydrants, meters, and

valves. In this role, one must be available for emergency work in the

event of a water main failure (nights, weekends, and holidays), and

additionally may be required to work Emergency Night Stand-by Duty.

Install and repair water mains and

appurtenances. Install and repair water service connections. Operate,

clean, and maintain tapping and drilling machines. Operate, clean, and

maintain pumping equipment used in the installation and maintenance of

water mains and service connections. Repairs trenches and excavations by

patching with bituminous and concrete materials. Washes and cleans all

motor vehicles, as directed by foreman or other supervising authority.

Maintains material stock on utility truck as directed by the supervising

authority. Other duties as assigned per the full job description.

Massachusetts Class B CDL License
- Required

Massachusetts Class A CDL License
- Preferred Minimum (1) year of

related experience and/or training or a combination of education and

experience/training Working knowledge of water treatment and systems

operations Working knowledge of a wide variety of hand tools, air tools

and hydraulic tools High School Diploma or Equivalent
