School Site Specialists for Educational Talent Search, a federally funded Trio project, work in area high schools and provide outreach services to targeted students, coordinate support services for participants; conduct needs assessments; provide advising; and other services on a group and individual basis.
This is a temporary, grant-funded, and probationary status position. Continued employment is dependent on continued funding. ETS School Site Specialist must be employed with the high school.
SALARY:
Local Salary - $250.00 per month (9 months)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Schedules monthly ETS meeting at assigned school, collects ETS applications, sends transcripts to the ETS office as requested, assists seminar instructors as needed and provides documentation as required by the federal government.
* Assists on field trips.
* Works a minimum of four (4) but not more than eighteen (18 ) hours per month, which must be outside the work hours of the full-time job.
* Submits monthly time sheets documenting time and effort.
* Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Education or related area from a regionally accredited institution is required.
* Excellent planning, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
* Willingness and ability to travel within the entire service area is required.
* Ability to relate to individuals from diverse background and be sensitive to the needs of students is required.
* Demonstrated ability to successfully work with the targeted population, personal background overcoming barriers similar to those of the students served by the project is required.
* Experience as a former teacher or counselor who is knowledgeable of student characteristics and school systems is preferred.
