Job Overview

Reports to the Plant Engineer. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and replacement of electronic instrumentation, controls, electrical wiring, mechanical devices, and other equipment in an industrial plant environment.

Chillicothe, MO.

Hours:

Night Shift 7:00pm – 7:00am with a $2.00 night‑shift premium. Hourly rate: $26.98 – $32.70 (based on experience).

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all plant safety requirements and participate fully in the plant safety program.
  • Use tools, materials, and test equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control‑level diagnosis and maintain PLC programs, installing and repairing related systems per manufacturer specifications.
  • Read complex electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, wiring diagrams, and shop drawings for installation, troubleshooting, and repair of major and minor systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot safety and motor starter control circuits.
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments such as ultrasonic level transmitters, flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, and differential pressure transmitters.
  • Participate in GPS activities, including R‑3s, zero‑failure analyses, incident follow‑up, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Use a range of test equipment, including analog and digital multimeters, to identify problems and maintain equipment performance.
  • Connect, disconnect, and tag out equipment and circuits for testing or repair, ensuring safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Pull and terminate cable for instrumentation installation and repair.
  • Install electrical conduit and wiring for circuits in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Perform soldering on electronic components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs as required and conduct preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain shop and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization and may work on special products or emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent and 6 months of work experience, or 3 years of experience in electronic, electrical, and mechanical technology.
  • Current forklift operator license preferred.
  • Experience with Fanuc or similar robots is a plus.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Strong written communication skills for simple correspondence.
  • Effective presentation skills in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Capability to interpret technical instructions in various formats and handle multiple variables.
  • Physical ability to use mechanical lifts, kneel, bend, twist, reach out and overhead, climb stairs and ladders, and lift over 50lbs.
  • Proficiency in wearing required PPE, including hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net, bear net (if applicable), and steel‑toe shoes.
  • Capacity to work in conditions that may include heat, humidity, and production noise.
