Position Summary:

The Assistant Prison Program Coordinator will assist the Coordinator of Educational Programs for the respective correctional facility in maintaining a smooth and efficient operation of the off‑site programs including working closely with on‑site correctional educational coordinators, maintaining waiting lists, assisting with registration, placement testing, supervising computer labs, tutoring students, and educating DRC staff about Sinclair Community College programs.

Accountabilities include overseeing facilities and equipment, ensuring SCC and DRC policies are followed, working with the Coordinator for the Advanced Learning program, collaborating with Regional Managers and faculty.

The hourly pay rate for this position is $20.43 and has a maximum of 28 hours per week. Daytime, evening and weekend hours available.

• Work closely with on‑site correctional educational coordinators to ensure student availability to attend classes.
• Maintain waiting lists and assist in registering students.
• Assist in providing placement testing.
• Assist the supervision of computer labs and provide technical assistance to students.
• Tutor students as needed.
• Work with Ohio DRC staff to educate them about the mission of the certificate and degree programs offered by Sinclair Community College at their facility.
• Assist in overseeing all facilities and equipment related to the delivery of SCC programs, ensuring applicable SCC and DRC policies are followed.
• Maintain communication with the Prison Educational Programs Coordinator for the Advanced Learning program, the Regional Manager, and other AJT staff and SCC faculty.

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of correctional or closely related experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, writing, interpersonal and telephone etiquette skills with a positive attitude.
• Experience working with the public or within the criminal justice system.
• Ability to work well with diverse constituents including faculty, administrators, inmates, and correctional staff.
• Provide customer service responsibly, ethically, and with unconditional positive regard for diversity and cultures.
• Maturity, good judgment, and high ethical standards.
• Consistent attendance and accountability to the program.
• Ability to assist at other correctional facility sites as needed.
• Ability to pass a DRC background check.
• Other duties as assigned.
