Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree with emphasis in educational administration.
2. Valid State of Ohio certificate for a principal.
3. Demonstrated instructional leadership.
4. Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution.
5. Demonstrated leadership in educational administration or equivalent experience.
6. Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication.
7. Understanding of STEM curriculum.
8. Understanding of developmental growth and impact on student learning.
9. Understanding of the Multi-Tiered System of Support and PBIS
10. Basic understanding of IDEA regulations
11. Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication.
12. Demonstrates good organizational skills.
13. Demonstrates good decision-making skills.
14. Demonstrates good listening skills.
15. Satisfactory work record.
16. High mental and visual effort required.
Overall Duties:
The Middle School Principal is responsible for planning and administering an effective, efficient middle school program which provides an optimal educational program for all students. The principal facilitates the professional growth of the staff, leads the instructional program, and ensures a safe learning environment. The Middle School Principal is evaluated by the Superintendent.
Specific
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the daily operation of the middle school program.
2. Develops, promotes and ensures the implementation of the curricular and instructional program.
3. Ensures student achievement for all students
4. Works with the Superintendent and the Central Office personnel to select, appropriately assign, and encourage professional growth of new staff members.
5. Leads planning of regular meetings of the professional staff specific to instruction, PBIS, MTSS, etc..
6. Oversees the implementation of the contracts between the Board and employee organizations.
7. Works with staff to create a positive learning and social emotional climate.
8. Communicates a shared vision and clear goals for the building.
9. Ensures that continuous improvement planning occurs at the building level and supports the district's Strategic Plan.
10. Administers policies and regulations adopted by the Board of Education.
11. Understands and uses assessment data to evaluate and improve instruction for all students.
12. Plans, interprets and administers school conduct and discipline procedures that are consistent with Board policy.
13. Supervises and maintains student record keeping procedures related to attendance, assessment, student progress, health and emergency data.
14. Ensures safety, health and welfare of all students and staff.
15. Serves as a key communicator between the school and the community.
16. Collaborates with parent-teacher and other stakeholder groups in support of the total school program.
17. Cooperates with civil authorities in accordance with state law, school board policy and administrative regulations.
18. Allocates resources and manages school operations including directing and monitoring the building budget, collecting designated fees, establishing the daily schedule, and supervising staff.
19. Ensures and coordinates maintenance, housekeeping, and security of facilities and property.
20. Communicates all personnel issues to the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or appropriate Central Office personnel.
21. Participates in professional organizations and activities.
22. Serves as a member of the District's Administrative Team.
23. Ensures the coordination of all building programs including instruction,assessments, testing, drug and alcohol, technology, academically talented, guidance and counseling, special education, library/media, student services, intervention and health.
24. Assumes such other responsibilities and performs other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Director of Special Services, or designee.
