Student IT Support Specialist
Position Summary:
Provides technical assistance to students, staff, and faculty by troubleshooting software or hardware issues, maintaining IT systems, and offering solutions to ensure smooth technological operations across the University. The role serves as an entry point into the field of Information Technology for Ohio University students.
Job Duties:
- Supporting video conferencing classrooms by turning on equipment and reporting problems.
- Assisting with inventory, testing, and cleaning of computer equipment.
- Answering the help desk phone, entering work orders, and resolving issues when possible.
- Supporting campus events through setup, operating technology, and tear down.
- Checking out and delivering equipment.
- Supporting campus projects as needed.
- Providing entry-level experience with IT tasks and supervising other student workers as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be a student at Ohio University or another post‑secondary institution.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (a grade of “C” or higher).
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with office software and communication tools.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work productively without close supervision and to follow confidentiality policies.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with networking or audiovisual equipment.
- Knowledge of IT support best practices.
Pay Rate: $11.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
Flexible work hours, must be willing to work morning and evening hours as needed.
Campus Locations:
Chillicothe, Lancaster, Southern
