Job Functions / ResponsibilitiesMATERIAL PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine production requirements for assigned group of purchased parts by reviewing sales or engineering releases, historical data, shortage or exception reports, and other applicable inputs.
- Issue purchase orders to suppliers timely and accurately to meet production lead times, replenish non‑conforming or missing stock, and in response to engineering change notifications.
- Maintain accurate order board in weeks 0‑2.
- Expedite order releases to assure timely delivery of parts to support production requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and Kenworth management to resolve disputes over expedite, OT, or other charges.
- Coordinate new model launches with suppliers, engineering, and material handling to ensure on‑time delivery.
- Maintain a strong relationship with division buyers to ensure all goals are met.
- Maintain accuracy of exception reports/transactions daily (UMR, MAPC, ITP, ETC.).
- Resolve supplier packaging, labeling, and other compliance issues.
- Proactively identify and resolve delivery issues.
- Proactively implement process improvements utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TRAFFIC PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule, expedite, and monitor inbound and outbound shipments.
- Maintain accurate tracking information and reporting.
- Exercise good decision‑making regarding freight routing.
- Utilize Pac Car transportation system to ensure on‑time delivery of shipments.
- Execute freight claim process for best cost recovery for loss/damage.
- Ensure accurate documentation for customs exports and hazmat shipments.
- Proactively identify and resolve delivery issues.
- Proactively implement process improvements utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to manage priorities efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills; detail oriented and thorough project execution.
- Self‑starter that achieves results alone, with minimal supervision, or with a team.
- Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Preferred:
Experience in an operations environment in manufacturing support. - MUST MEET
