Summary
This position serves as an Inventory Manager in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service in the VA Health Care System responsible for the inventory and management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment in the assigned area(s).
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 07/24/2026. Time‑in‑grade requirements apply to current and former Federal employees. Applicants must provide an SF‑50 showing eligibility, and may need an additional SF‑50 if the most recent one does not demonstrate a full year.
Minimum qualifications for the GS‑7 level include:
- One full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑5 in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties. Specialized experience includes managing a variety of expendable items and durable medical equipment, forecasting short‑ and long‑range inventory needs, analyzing inventory management reports, utilizing automated inventory management systems, researching and resolving questions and issues, and implementing federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies.
- Or one full year of graduate‑level education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Transcripts must be submitted with the application.
- Or a combination of graduate education and specialized experience as outlined above.
- Or superior academic achievement at the baccalaureate level in a qualifying curriculum, evidenced by class standing, GPA, or membership in a recognized honor society.
Minimum qualifications for the GS‑9 level include:
- One full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑7 covering additional responsibilities such as developing acquisition strategies, evaluating supply system performance, and serving as the point of contact for material support coordination.
- Or completion of a master’s degree or equivalent graduate education, with transcripts submitted.
- Or an equivalent combination of graduate education and specialized experience.
Required Driver's License: A current, valid state‑issued driver’s license is required. A photo of the license will not be accepted; a copy must be provided if an interview is requested.
Duties- Inventory Management and Control:
Responsible for management and control of assigned expendable material. - Act as the point of contact for coordination of material support and resolution of logistics problems.
- Conduct forecasting and quantitative analysis.
- Conduct spot checks.
- Comply with special requirements for firearms, ammunition, and sensitive equipment.
- Returns, Recalls, and Reutilization:
Implement federal and agency programs for return and reutilization of medical supplies. - Coordinate disposal of surplus or excess supplies.
- Make emergent procurement decisions.
- Participate in root cause analysis process.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Virtual:
