Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Location:
Greensboro, NC.
Assist the EHS Environmental, Health & Safety Department with company‑wide compliance in both office and field site visits as required. This full‑time position with benefits offers opportunities to work across the Hot Mix Asphalt, Sand Plant, Bridge and Construction branches, inspecting machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, as well as environmental compliance. The role compiles data and reports EHS statistics to management personnel on a weekly basis.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new software. - Bilingual:
English/Spanish preferred. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to field sites within the Triad of NC.
- Ability to review, comprehend, and summarize documents for supervision.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Attitude/cooperation:
Maintain a courteous and professional manner with coworkers, customers, and the public. Willingness to ask questions and adherence to the Code of Business Conduct. - Current MSHA/OSHA training or ability to obtain it.
- Data entry, organizing, and filing for permit compliance.
- Completing job‑site audits and providing helpful feedback to operators and crews.
- Working with other departments to troubleshoot problems and document results.
- Coordinating with local municipalities and government agencies for water and air compliance.
- Inspecting machines and equipment for accident prevention.
- Observing workers to verify use of prescribed safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hats, goggles, respirators, and other PPE).
- Inspecting specified areas for fire‑prevention equipment and other safety and first‑aid supplies.
- Testing or identifying working areas for noise, toxic, and other hazards using decibel meters, gas detectors, and light meters.
- Documenting accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions or activities.
- Preparing reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action(s).
- Investigating accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety program(s).
- Demonstrating use of safety equipment.
- Training employees with public‑speaking skills as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations.
- Coordinating safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
- Working in conjunction with HR and the EHS Manager on workers’ compensation incidents.
- Performing additional assignments per the EHS Manager’s instructions.
- Conducting weekly site visits at job sites and Harrison locations.
- College degree or related experience for the position preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent required, with the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.
- Willingly gain familiarity with mining, construction, permitting, and IT activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- At least 1–2 years of construction or industrial safety, and/or environmental health and safety experience preferred.
