What You’ll Do:
- Act as lead worker, providing work direction and training over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment.
- Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment (e.g., motors, appliances, fans, transformers, heating and cooling equipment, fire and other alarm/security systems, elevators, and switches).
- Determine and complete materials needed, generate cost estimates, and submit purchase requests.
- Read blueprints and/or schematic diagrams; maintain inventory of electrical supplies.
- Maintain tool count of tools used by incarcerated individuals (e.g., complete tool control forms daily and maintain strict inventory of tools).
- Perform other maintenance and/or miscellaneous duties (e.g., semi-skilled carpentry, painting, electrical, sheet metal, HVAC).
- Ensure compliance with security regulations.
- Install, troubleshoot, test, modify, and/or maintain basic telecommunications and/or electronic data processing equipment (e.g., cable television lines, telephone lines, computer/terminal lines, printers, analog or digital phones) in an institutional setting.
- Serve on institutional committees.
- Attend training, seminars, and/or meetings.
- Perform security functions as required (e.g., man-down, shakedown, inmate movement).
- Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., snow and ice removal, grass cutting).
Minimum qualifications include:
- 18 months training or 18 months verifiable experience in electrical work under supervision of an experienced electrician; formal education in arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and English reading & writing.
- Or 6 months experience as Electrician 1, 52281.
- Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
