Installs, maintains, and assembles basic traffic signal/Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), highway lighting, and miscellaneous electrical devices (e.g., signal pedestrian heads, poles, foundations, cables, conduits, luminaires, controller cabinets, flashing beacons, school flashers). Performs concrete pours for pole and control equipment installation, utilises computer and mobile devices with traffic signal software for operation and maintenance in accordance with Ohio Revised Code (ORC) sections, Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (OMUTCD) manual, and Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM) to ensure public safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Operates state vehicle to travel to worksites, constructs foundation reinforcement cages, wires control cabinets, programs controllers, monitors cards, conducts annual inspections and testing, troubleshoots and makes necessary adjustments or repairs to basic parts of traffic signals, flashing beacons, and Highway Weather Information System (RWIS) hardware and electrical connections, and performs utility locating of traffic signal and highway lighting facilities. Maintains work‑zone traffic control, including flagging, erection, repair or replacement of span wire and overhead signs, and performs other duties as assigned.

Operates computer and related software (Enterprise Information Management System (EIMS), Ohio Traffic Signal Inventory System (OSIS), ESRI ArcGIS, and traffic signal software) and mobile devices to enter, maintain, and retrieve data, including inventory management, vehicle mileage tracking, inspection reports, traffic control device data, traffic signal timing sheets, conflict monitor logs, asset management data, and daily maintenance records. Utilises diagnostic test equipment for troubleshooting and repair of traffic signal components, flashing beacons, and highway lighting systems up to 480 volt AC/ DC and solar power devices.

Operates motorised equipment and repair tools, performs minor repairs, reports defective equipment, maintains stock carried on trucks, and assists with sign erection and detour marking.

Assists upper‑level Traffic Signal Technicians and management with final inspections of new traffic signals installed by contractors and performs face‑to‑face contact with the public and school officials during repairs and maintenance. Performs periodic inspections of traffic signals under construction to ensure compliance with work plans, specifications, and standards.

• 12 months of electrical training or experience including troubleshooting/repair of electrical circuits (e.g., operation of a multimeter, wire splicing).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum Class B commercial driver’s license without air‑brake restriction within 12 months of hire.
• Experience in transportation and electrical trade; professional skills include attention to detail and teamwork.

Must obtain and maintain a Class B commercial driver’s license without air‑brake restriction as regulated by Section 4506 of the Ohio Revised Code within 12 months of entry into the position.
