We’re seeking a Finish Excavator Operator to join our team in the Fraser Valley supporting civil construction projects across the region.
As a Finish Excavator Operator, you’ll work with a crew on site to get daily work done safely and on time. You’ll work hands-on with a skilled crew in the field, ensuring safety, and efficiency every step of the way. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, tackling big challenges, and being part of projects that shape communities.
Although we are a union affiliated organization, being an active member is not a prerequisite.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Cut and finish grades for ditches, berms, and slopes to design elevations and tolerances, maintaining precise line, level, and crossfall while meeting production, safety, and quality standards.
- Perform excavation and grading safely around multiple existing utilities—coordinate locates, maintain required clearances, use spotters, and follow utility maps and procedures.
- Loading trucks, spreading material, digging trenches.
- Safely operate in accordance with company and WorkSafeBC standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Conduct daily inspections on machines prior to use.
- Participate in daily/weekly site meetings.
- Communicate updates and issues to the Field Supervisor/Superintendent; request support as needed.
- Able to assist ground crew if needed or perform other general labour duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Significant experience operating an excavator.
- Strong ability to cut to finish grade on ditches, berms, and slopes; all with a high level of precision.
- Experience working around multiple utilities.
- Knowledge of and adherence to ground disturbance standards and regulations.
- Experience in performing daily maintenance and checks on heavy machines.
- Valid driver’s license as well as a clean driver abstract.
- Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Union hourly rate: $43.30 – $44.96 per hour.
