Utility Operations Department
Overview The City of Chilliwack Utility Operations Department requires 2 Labourer I (Time Duration) positions to assist the departments through reliable performance in semiskilled labourer duties.
Are you the one we’re looking for? We are looking for individuals who have experience as a semi skilled or skilled labourer with experience in any one of these fields, civil construction, pipe laying, plumbing and equipment operators.
For you to succeed in this role, you will need to have the following requirements and skills:

• Experience in non and semiskilled tasks associated with labourer duties;
• Courses and/or experience in a variety of skills and trades such as pipe fitting/laying, plumbing would be preferential;
• Experience and or knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the City’s sewer collection and water distribution would be considered an asset.
• Some experience with the inspection, maintenance and operation for all water, sewer and drainage facilities and equipment;
• A Class 3 Licence or Class 5 with Air Brake Endorsement would be considered an asset;
• Experience in the operation of a rubber tire backhoe or excavator is desirable;
• Able to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, property owners and the public;
• Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
